MY WORK.. MY ACHIEVEMENTS...

I am AMPARO CHRISTINE RECON - PANGANIBAN, graduate of Philippine Normal University major in Social Science and has been employed in the public school (Tagaytay City Science National High School) since 1998 and has been teaching Araling Panlipunan I for 8 years.

As an ICT non-major, it is a great challenge for me to teach ICT, for I have only some training background from Cavite Computer Center, Imus, Cavite as a beneficiary of Gov. Ayong Maliksi program for members of Amadeo Women’s Club and Asosasyon ng mga Ina sa Cavite.  With the training, I was designated as an ICT teacher in our school.

My capability as an ICT teacher is further enhanced when Tagaytay City Science National High School became a partner of Smartschool Program which covers 3 components: ACCESS, CONTENT AND TRAINING.

Program offered one year, free of charge, unlimited Internet access and connectivity.

Smart Schools offers teacher training on Basic Computer Literacy, ICT Integration in the Classroom, Basic Troubleshooting and Maintenance, Leadership for School Heads, and Web & Content.

It provides access to relevant, educational content through the Smart Schools Program website, www.smartschools.ph, an online incentive program under its “School Mo, Panalo!” program, and hosting of the school’s website.

The Program also provides training on web and content in preparation for the “Doon Po Sa Amin” (DPSA) Learning Challenge (www.doonposaamin.ph). The DPSA Learning Challenge is a project where teachers and students of Smart Schools Program partner schools will be encouraged to use computer and Internet technologies to generate web-based information and educational materials about their respective communities.

Web designing using MS Frontpage is one of the competencies included in the ICT syllabus provided by the Division of Cavite.  One of the trainings I participated under the Smart Schools Program is web designing last May 11 – 15, 2009 at Collegio de San Juan de Letran.  This training leads to the development of our school website which serves as the bridge between the school and its alumni, parents, students and other stakeholders.  I am very glad to inform everyone that our school website was judged best website for the month of August 2009.

Through the Smart Schools Program, I can now teach my students how to create their own website and I can proudly say that our students have achieved the required level of competency in this area.  In fact, our students joined “Doon Po Sa Amin” Learning Challenge and submitted four entries this year.
