My Opening Remarks @ G.A.D. Seminar

Good morning!
We are gathered here today for the 2013 School Based Seminar on GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT. We are lucky and privileged to have our speakers for today's event. Despite of their hectic schedule, they took time to come and be with us today. Welcome to the city of character, the city of fog and the 2nd summer capital of the Philippines and most especially welcome to the SCHOOL OF SMILES. Because our principal is the number one advocate of the slogan: A SMILE A DAY KEEPS PAIN AWAY! And therefore SA PAARALANG ITO BAWAL ANG NAKASIMANGOT!
After this seminar, we are expected to be enlightened what gender and development is all about. On my way here, as one of the participants, lots of questions are in my mind
1st....is gender and development, women empowerment?
2nd... is it about gender equality?
Or 3rd... How gender and development awareness be utilize in my profession as a teacher? With these questions in mind... I wish my curiosity would be satisfied.
Are you too curious like me?
I am Hoping we will have a great day ahead.
 Goodluck to us!

My Career Path

This is one of my requirements in my masters this semester.
I enjoyed doing it!
At my age, I still discover more of myself ...
I also got the chance to reflect...
Why am I here?
Why do I chose to be a teacher?
And still aiming more for myself and never stop from dreaming...
Thanks Dr. Lumine Crisostomo for this activity/assignment.

When I was in my early Elementary years, I wanted to be an….

Office Girl
I think it’s my mother who influences me in this ambition because she is working as a manager in a bank.

I witness how my mother got so busy and spend a little time with our family
… My career choice changed.

I wanted to own a Grocery Store
In this way, there is time flexibility and earning for a living at the same time.

Before I graduated in Elementary,
There comes a time that I also want to become…

Plain Housewife
A typical Filipino family set-up
I can be focusing more on my family of my own especially my kids.

And at the same time, I can also want

to own an Apartment for rent
I am already aware of the need for earning money to live.  And by owning an apartment, is an easy way to have an income and provide the needs of the family.

When I was in my High school, I am not decided yet on what course will I take in college.
My mother advises me to become…

a Teacher
It is not really my dream but at present I can say that teaching profession is one of the most stable jobs not only in our country. As a teacher, it is the profession that provides the needs of my children.  Especially now, I am a single parent in my two kids.

My future plans…

I am hoping to finish my masters for me to have an opportunity to teach in college and be promoted in my work or even work abroad as a teacher.
